Why a team pays for this
You send a production key to a contractor. On the free plan you find out it was opened whenever you next think to check. On Team, your channel says so within seconds — and if it is opened at 3am from nowhere near your team, you know that too, while you can still rotate the key.
A password leaks, someone leaves the company, an auditor asks how you control credential sharing: in all three cases the question is the same — who shared what, and who opened it? The log answers it by keeping a record of every creation, read, expiry and revocation, with its date and its author.
